Safety tools, 'no swimming' signs to be placed at Racine beach after family of teen girl who drowned pushes for change

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two new water safety measures were recently installed at Racine's Carre-Hogle Park.

Following a tragic drowning over the summer, a joint team from the fire department, public health department, and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department recommended adding "No Swimming" signage and life ring buoys to the area.

“These steps won’t eliminate every risk, but they provide clearer warnings and critical life-saving tools in case of emergency,” said Mayor Cory Mason. “We remain committed to doing what we can to prevent future tragedies.”
