CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Gloucester man now faces a possibility of over nine years in prison after a jury found him guilty in a murder-for-hire scheme.

The Carteret County District Attorney’s Office says Brian Bohn was convicted by a jury last Thursday after 45 minutes of deliberation. He was sentenced to serve between six years, 11 months and nine years, four months in prison.

Bohn was arrested September 2, 2024, in a murder-for-hire scheme where he’d pay a “hit-man” $5,000.00 and a used Honda Odyssey to kill his neighbor due to a dispute concerning creek dredging, according to the D.A.’s office.

Testimony during the hearing says the 61-year-old Bohn befriended a Newport Flea Mall booth operator and told the man he intended to kill his neighbor in August 2024.
