ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A fire ripped through a Carrollton apartment building overnight, forcing people out of their homes.
Crews were called to Soma Apartments off Hays Mill Road early Wednesday morning. Residents told Atlanta News First that they woke up to smoke and rushed out of the building.

Firefighters didn’t report any injuries, but police said a person possibly broke their ankle when they jumped from an upper floor to escape the flames.
A resident also said five of their cats died in the fire.
Several units were affected by the flames. Officials have not commented on how the blaze started.
The investigation is ongoing.
