Adelita Grijalva has won the special election for Arizona’s 7th Congressional District, giving House lawmakers enough support to force a vote on the public release of the Jeffrey Epstein Files.
On Tuesday (September 23), Grijalva, a former Pima County supervisor, defeated Republican Daniel Butierez, filling the House seat previously held by her late father, Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D), who died from cancer-related complications in March, per The Hill.
Grijalva’s election to Arizona’s 7th District, which includes much of the southern part of the state and part of Tucson, will provide the final signature needed for a bipartisan discharge petition to force a floor vote on a measure demanding the Justice Department release all remaining files tied to Epstein.
