STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) — One year after Hurricane Helene formed in the Western Caribbean Sea, multiple cities and counties across the southeast reflect on the damage and lessons learned from the storm.
Statesboro and Bulloch County are no different.
County emergency management agency director Corey Kemp still remembers how quickly everything changed as the storm approached.
"We noticed that it wasn't going to turn towards Alabama so our preparedness, the way we prepared changed in the EOC, we were not able to get that information out, but we were able to send our messages just to buckle down a little bit tighter than what you initially were going to do as the night went on," Kemp said.
