SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A lawsuit claims Missouri is discriminating based on sex in a law banning gender transition care for minors.
Before the Missouri Supreme Court on Wednesday, a lawsuit was filed by three Missouri families with transgender children, claiming the state law unfairly discriminates against their children based on their gender. The Missouri Supreme Court’s decision is expected in the coming weeks. This is after a circuit court and appellate court have already ruled in favor of the state.
This lawsuit was first filed two years ago after the then-governor Mike Parson signed the SAFE Act, a law passed in 2023 that bans transgender care for minors, among other restrictions.
