BAKER COUNTY, Ore — A 75-year-old Washington man survived inside his crashed car for three days before he was rescued by first responders on Sept. 22, according to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.
Paul Bartholomew Schwinberg of Richland, Washington, was reportedly driving home from an appointment in Kennewick when he took a wrong turn and became lost.
Schwinberg ended up on Anthony Lakes Highway near Antelope Peak Road in Oregon – nearly two and a half hours by car from his original destination. A spokesperson for Baker County said they are unsure of the route he took, which resulted in him being “an incredible distance from his intended destination.”
