Ryder Cup should deliver a Bryson vs. Rory match

As Golfweek's Adam Schupak writes:

Given that the Ryder Cup is going to compete against a strong slate of college football games on Saturday not to mention the 800-pound Gorilla that is the NFL on Sunday, if these two popular players in their own different ways and at times lightning rods for controversy don’t meet, what are we even doing here?

How are the hole locations determined in the Ryder Cup?

Most fans might think the home captain and his assistants choose hole locations. It’s a frequent topic of conversation in the lead-up to each Ryder Cup that the home team can set up the course however it likes, and that is true to an extent. But the home team’s setup options don’t exclusively cover hole locations on the greens, said PGA of America chief championship officer Kerry Haigh.

Robert MacIntyre on Donald Trump: 'Just another spectator'

Scot Robert MacIntyre was asked about the President's visit coming Friday, and he downplayed it and said he wanted to focus on the golf. "Again, I just play golf. I don't -- politics and stuff is out of my -- I mean, I'm not bright enough, for one, to be worrying about politics. I'm worrying more about what goes on this week on the golf course. Yeah, as a European, we've got a job to do, and yeah, try and compete as hard as we can and hopefully win the Ryder Cup."

A follow-up question was then asked, asking whether MacIntyre thought it would be a distraction to have the President attending. "It's just another spectator," he responded.

The U.S. team will gather for its team photo at 9:15 a.m. ET and head off the 10th tee at 10 a.m. ET for a pratice round. The European team follows off the 10th tee at 11 a.m. ET for its practice round. Also scheduled is a series of U.S. team player interviews.
