Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reached out to Wipro founder Azim Premji, requesting limited vehicular access through the Wipro campus to alleviate traffic congestion on Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road (ORR). In a letter dated September 19, Siddaramaiah highlighted the severe traffic issues at the Iblur junction, stating, "I wish to explore the possibility of allowing limited vehicular movement through the Wipro campus, subject to mutually agreed terms and necessary security considerations."

In response, Azim Premji has declined the request, citing operational and security concerns for Wipro and its employees. He emphasized that the decision was made in the best interests of the company. Despite the Chief Minister's mention of studies suggesting that allowing access could reduce congestion by nearly 30% during peak hours, Premji maintained that Wipro could not compromise on its campus integrity and long-term business needs.

Traffic and urban mobility experts had indicated that opening the Wipro–Ecoworld campus link road could significantly improve traffic flow. A detailed simulation study by Bengaluru Traffic Police projected a potential 38% reduction in travel time along the Sarjapur Road–Outer Ring Road corridor. However, Premji acknowledged the city's traffic challenges but reiterated Wipro's position on maintaining its operational standards.
