This week’s big briefing on autism and Tylenol from President Donald Trump , Robert F. Kennedy Jr. , and other administration officials was even worse than anyone had expected. The announcement was ostensibly intended to highlight the unproven link between acetaminophen use and autism and outline what the administration was doing to investigate that and protect Americans. This link was recently evaluated in a Harvard–Mount Sinai analysis of 46 previous studies that identified “an association between acetaminophen exposure during pregnancy and increased incidence” of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders but did not find a causal link.
