Minneapolis mayoral candidate and state Sen. Omar Fateh says a threatening, Islamophobic message was scrawled on his campaign office.

An announcement from Fateh shares that his office was vandalized this week with the message, "Somali Muslim — this warning is no joke."

The DFL lawmaker, who's the son of Somali immigrants, reports that he's experienced a "steady stream of hate, racial, and Islamophobic slurs, and violent threats" sent to his various emails and across social media.

“Our campaign will not be deterred by hate speech and vandalism. We will not back down to Islamophobia. I will not be bullied or intimidated," reads a statement from Fateh late Wednesday.

The vandalism was also denounced by incumbent Mayor Jacob Frey and at least one member of the Minneapolis City Council.
