COLOMA, Mich. -- Coloma Community Schools Superintendent Dave Ehlers confirmed to ABC57 that the school board recently voted to prepare for a lack of funding from the state.

The legislature must pass the budget by Oct.1.

If they fail to do so, Coloma Schools will borrow $1.6 million to cover spending until they get winter tax revenue from local governments.

If Michigan passes the budget in the next week, Coloma Schools will only borrow $600,000 as they do every year since their fiscal years do not align. Share
