The Pentagon confirmed in a statement Thursday that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth “will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week” amid reports that a major gathering of hundreds of the nation's top military commanders has been abruptly scheduled at a Marine Corps base in Virginia.

Following a Washington Post report of the meeting — which was also later reported on by other outlets — Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell, a senior adviser to Hegseth, said in a statement to Spectrum News that the secretary would be addressing senior military leaders but did not offer further details.
