A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 2:09 p.m. for gusty showers until 3:15 p.m. for Greene and Columbia counties.

Residents can expect wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

"At 2:08 p.m., Doppler radar tracked gusty showers near Athens, or 7 miles north of Catskill, moving northeast at 20 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."

Locations impacted by the alert include Hudson, Coxsackie, Valatie, Athens, Kinderhook, Lorenz Park, Stockport, Stuyvesant, Stuyvesant Falls, Columbiaville, West Coxsackie, Rossman, Result, Earlton, Otter Hook, Stockport Station, Limestreet, Climax, Brick Tavern and Sunnyside. This includes Interstate 87 between exits 21 and 21B.
