CLAYTON — Prosecutors have dropped their case against a Ferguson protester more than a year after charging him with damaging a police department gate, saying on Thursday the protester was not responsible for the damage.

The protester's attorney said prosecutors used the wrong video to charge his client.

Keith Rose, a longtime local activist, was charged with property damage in August 2024 after a gathering last year on the 10th anniversary of Michael Brown’s death outside the Ferguson Police Department.

Ferguson police said he broke the lower part of their department's gate and was captured on surveillance video "pushing and kicking and holding" the gate, court documents said.
