PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies served a felony warrant Thursday morning on a convicted felon with violent priors who was wanted for evading arrest, according to authorities.

Raul Navejas, 41, was arrested on a warrant for evading with a prior conviction after deputies spent more than two hours attempting to get him to surrender, Capt. Crystal Holmes of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.

Holmes described Navejas as a felon with violent prior convictions.

The operation began in the 1000 block of 12th Ave around 6 a.m. and concluded just after 8 a.m., Holmes said.

"He would not come out," Holmes said. "They were out there for at least two hours."
