A 22-year-old student struck and killed by a train last week near Messiah University grew up in Central Pa. and was interested in science and music, according to a tribute from his family.

Brendan James Heisey, of Elizabethtown, died on Sept. 19. He was walking on the railroad track near Messiah University’s South Gate when he was hit by a train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
