WINN PARISH, La. (KNOE) - A Winn Parish deputy involved in a deadly shooting on June 20, 2025, will not face criminal charges, according to documents released by the Winn Parish District Attorney’s office.

An officer-involved shooting in the 500 block of St. John Street in Winnfield left Justin Curry dead. The district attorney’s office said that, based on the events leading up to Curry’s death, the deputy’s use of excessive force was justified.

Documents released by Winn Parish DA Chris Nevils show that deputies responded to reports of an armed man, identified as Curry, who barricaded himself inside a home once law enforcement arrived.
