CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — DNA analysis has confirmed that the remains found last week near Leavenworth are those of Travis Decker, the man who authorities hunted for months after he allegedly killed his three daughters.

The U.S. Marshals Service, which had been leading the manhunt for Decker, declared him dead Wednesday in a court filing to dismiss Decker's criminal case. Chelan County officials had said they were waiting for DNA results to come back before officially declaring Decker dead.

“I would love to come out as the sheriff for our county and say, 'This case has been concluded, Decker has been located,' but we're just not at that point yet,” Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison told KING 5 on Wednesday after news of the U.S. Marshals Service declaring Decker dead came out.
