While rainy and wet conditions led to the cancellation of the annual flag-raising ceremony in Lamoureux Park and parade down Montreal Road, Cornwall’s francophone high schools still honoured this cultural heritage indoors.
“Today is a really big celebration,” said Association canadienne‑française de l’Ontario — Stormont Dundas Glengarry (ACFO-SDG) francophone coordinator Cassandra McElhone. “We’re celebrating our cultural roots, our history and the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag.”
