Ex-Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart believes the Americans have made a rod for their own back by demanding to be paid.

For the first time ever, each member of Team USA will receive a $500,000 package to play in the Ryder Cup , with £300k paid to a charity of their choice.

It follows drama at the 2023 edition in Rome, when Patrick Cantlay was mercilessly mocked by the European crowd over his apparent protest, refusing to wear a hat due to lack of financial compensation.
