One area of Plymouth is to get £20 million to improve it - and residents will decide how it's spent.
The cash for St Budeaux can be spent on anything from park improvements to fixing up empty buildings and high streets.
It will come in the form of £2 million a year for ten years as part of a new government fund.
St Budeaux is one of the 90 areas across the country selected to pioneer a new way of deciding how to spend public money on local projects as part of the Plan for Neighbourhoods fund.
Local MP Fred Thomas says it will rely on residents in St Budeaux coming together to submit ideas for how to spend the total amount - and a call will soon be going out for people to volunteer to sit on a local board that will help to coordinate the project.
