After waiting for more than a year, one of the Bergen County Animal Shelter's favorite residents has finally been adopted.

Ace, a 5-year-old American bully, arrived at the shelter in May 2024 and has been looking for a home ever since. That's nearly 500 days before being adopted. Ace was featured as a NorthJersey.com adoptable pet of the week earlier in September.

His sweet, playful and gentle nature made him a favorite among shelter staff, according to Shelter Manager Megan Tedeschi, who calls him "perfection on four legs."

Staff members described Ace as a sweet, good natured and overall perfect dog. He loves people and affection but was an underdog, constantly being overlooked by potential adopters. According to shelter staff, this makes his adoption that much more special.
