FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — One person is dead and another is hurt after a head-on crash resulted in a vehicle catching on fire early Friday morning, according to the Chattahoochee Hills Fire Department.
According to the fire department, crews were called to the crash on South Fulton Parkway near Rico Road at around 2:34 a.m. The crash closed Highway 70 in both directions for a few hours, but as of 7 a.m., the roads are back open to traffic.
The Georgia State Patrol was called to investigate the incident. Officials said a Toyota was attempting an improper passing maneuver, causing it to lose control and cross into the eastbound lane, where it struck a Honda head-on. The Toyota came to rest facing north in the road and burst into flames, while the Honda rotated and stopped off the south shoulder
