Oban Elliott has been removed from UFC Perth this weekend, the promotion have confirmed.

Elliott, 27, was scheduled to meet Australia's Jonathan Micallef on enemy territory for a welterweight bout on Sunday morning.

However, due to illness, 'The Welsh Gangster' has pulled out of the UFC Perth bout, and it has since been cancelled.

Sources close to Elliott's team have confirmed the welterweight fighter was suffering from a severe flu and was left with no choice but to withdraw as it worsened.

Elliott is 12-3 in professional MMA and had vowed to bounce back in Perth this weekend following his first UFC defeat.
