FANS struggled to get through enhanced security at Bethpage ahead of the start of the Ryder Cup.

Spectators paid $800 (£600) each for their tickets , but found themselves stuck in slow moving lines at the entrance.

President Donald Trump is set to attend proceedings on Long Island this weekend.

This has seen security measures significantly increased, at a cost of an estimated $10 million - ex-secret service agent Donald Lane told The U.S. Sun.

Proceedings are scheduled to get underway at 7:10am EST.

With under an hour to go until play began, fans could be seen having to be patient in order to get in.

Just under 30 minutes from opening tee, even members of staff were struggling to get on site.

Some fans started to get restless, not wanting to miss any of the action.
