Renowned snake rescuer Santosh Chand from Sindhekela lost his life after being bitten by a cobra during a rescue operation in Bakagura village, Bolangir district.
Known for saving and releasing hundreds of snakes into the wild, Santosh was responding to a call about a snake entering a local home.
Upon arrival, he successfully captured the cobra and began demonstrating tricks in front of villagers. During the stunt, the snake bit his tongue, injecting venom directly into his bloodstream. Within moments, Santosh’s condition deteriorated. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment but tragically succumbed to the venom.
