LAKE SHORE — The Lake Shore City Council approved a preliminary property tax levy for 2026 of $1,971,383, which is 2.97% higher than this year.
The most recent budget change approved at the regular meeting Monday, Sept. 22, was to increase funds for city hall building repairs from $2,000 to $5,000.
Preliminary levy numbers include:
Preliminary general levy: $1,811,573 (up 3.08% or $54,000).
Debt levy: $159,810.
Total preliminary levy: $1,971,383 (total levy increase of 2.97%.).
The overall budget increase is 2.69%.
The preliminary levy can be lowered, but not raised, before final adoption Dec. 15.
