As children, we are taught not to use certain offensive words. Families hold different views on which words are proper.
In our society, vocabularies vary. Today, even truth varies.
What words are helpful? What words are destructive? What words destroy meaningful conversations?
The “F” word can quickly divide a room. Is our nation moving toward fascism ? Fascist is a “bad” label associated with cruel authoritarian regimes. Fascism is associated with the 20th-century European regimes of Mussolini and Hitler. Who would want to be tied to past cruelties?
Another divisive and often avoided word, but one that we need to look at, is the “G” word – genocide.
Genocide evokes the Holocaust.
Genocide calls out for a response.
Genocide labels the doer as inhum
