Every day, three times a day, 9-year-old Finci walks into the forest near her home in Indonesia to collect water. “Puddles” are their only source of water to drink. “It’s so exhausting!” said Finci. “The water was dirty, murky, and had a bad smell.”
Finci added that the water she carried home often made her sick. “The water made me get stomachaches and diarrhea,” she told CBN. ”I also got rashes on my skin. I often prayed, ‘Lord Jesus, please help us. We don’t have clean water at home. Please help us, Lord!,”
Finci lives with her sister-in-law, Marisinda, on Nias Island. She told us they used to ask for a few cups of clean water from a neighbor. Now that’s no longer an option.
“I will never forget the day when she yelled at us when we asked for some water!” said a tearful Marisinda
