VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - New details have been released by the Valdosta Police Department (VPD) after a man was pronounced dead on Sept. 25 following an incident at a Valdosta elementary school. VPD has confirmed that the man died after officers discharged their firearms.
The officers who were involved have reportedly been placed on administrative leave. The number of officers who were involved in this case is unclear at this time. Their identities have not been released.
In the afternoon of Sept. 25, VPD officers responded to S.L. Mason Elementary School after an officer saw a man with a firearm allegedly entering the campus. That man has died, according to both VPD and Lowndes County Coroner Austin Fiveash.
