SRINAGAR : In the wake of the detention of environmentalist and social activist Sonam Wangchuk, the Kargil district administration on Friday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code 2023, banning large gatherings and public rallies. The announcement, made through loudspeakers this late afternoon, barred assemblies of five or more persons until further notice. Authorities also made it mandatory for organizers to secure prior written permission for any procession, march, or demonstration.
