United Nations: Saudi Arabia has warned that any Israeli move to annex parts of the West Bank would carry serious consequences for regional stability, while noting that U.S. President Donald Trump is fully aware of the dangers involved.

Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan made the remarks during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where Arab and Muslim leaders raised alarms that annexation could derail peace efforts and extinguish hopes for a two-state solution.

Trump, for his part, said Washington would not permit Israel to proceed with annexation. His pledge comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces mounting pressure from right-wing allies to expand Israeli sovereignty in the occupied territory, despite international opposition.
