New solar farms are constantly coming online around New York state, including four projects in western and central New York announced earlier this month.
In Monroe County, there have been as many as 2,394 projects completed since 2000 including private and scale generation, based on data collected from projects funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. That’s at least 236 megawatts of generation; each megawatt of solar energy is enough to power about 180 homes in New York . That’s roughly 42,480 homes of the county’s 319,162 households .
