SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Detectives seized a loaded firearm, heroin, crack-cocaine and more than $5,000 from a Springfield man during a months-long investigation.

In a news release by the Springfield Police Department, the Firearms Investigation Unit has been investigating a suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Raul Pantoja of Springfield, for the illegal possession of a firearm and the illegal distribution of crack-cocaine.

On Thursday, detectives detained Pantoja after observing his vehicle on Calhoun Street and detained him. During the investigation detectives recovered drug paraphernalia, more than $5,300, and approximately 28 bags of heroin on him. In his vehicle they recovered a loaded firearm and crack-cocaine.
