Michael Porter Jr. is setting the record straight about money and dating, revealing he intentionally split rent with a former girlfriend to ensure her intentions were pure.

During a Sept. 23 appearance on Respectfully The Justin Laboy Show , the 27-year-old NBA star admitted to the surprising financial arrangement.

Laboy, seemingly shocked at Porter’s confession, asked: “Hold on. I know you not worth $200 million and was splitting rent with your ex-girlfriend.”

But Porter, who the Brooklyn Nets acquired from the Denver Nuggets in July 2025, wasn’t playing. “It’s very hard when you have money to tell a woman’s intentions,” he said.
