Waves driven by Typhoon Ragasa smashed through the glass doors of a Hong Kong hotel, knocking a man off his feet as water rushed inside.
The storm slammed the city with powerful winds and severe coastal flooding, prompting the Hong Kong Observatory to issue its highest-level warning.
Video from the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel shows floodwater bursting through the closed lobby doors, quickly rising to knee height while staff shouted for guests to evacuate.
At one point, a man holding a cardboard display slipped into the rushing water before another guest helped pull him to safety.
See the video above the moment the waves broke through.
