Giani Harpreet Singh accuses Punjab, Central Govts of flood mismanagement

Chandigarh, September 26, 2025: Giani Harpreet Singh, President of the newly formed Akali Dal, has accused the Punjab and Central governments of jointly failing the state during the recent floods. He stated that around 15% of Punjab was submerged, causing extensive damage to homes, crops, small businesses, daily wage workers, and laborers.

He blamed the government’s poor management alongside the natural disaster. According to Singh, the Bhakra-Bias Management Board (BBMB), responsible for regulating water, showed bias against Punjab, and the mismanagement of the Ranjit Sagar Dam worsened the situation.
