Baltimore police Commissioner Richard Worley was hospitalized Friday morning after he fell at his home and broke his nose.

Officials said Worley suffered the fall around 2 a.m. following an evening of playing baseball. Worley was transported to an area hospital, where he was receiving treatment for dehydration and the broken nose.

Officials said city leadership is in close contact with Worley’s family, and police operations remain fully functional.

While Worley is hospitalized, Baltimore Deputy Commissioner Brian Nadeau will serve as the acting police commissioner.
