Beachwood resident Sheila Allenick said volunteerism has been a part of her life from the very beginning.
Growing up, Allenick watched her mother volunteer, whether it was for the PTA or the sisterhood at the former The Temple-Tifereth Israel in Beachwood. Some of her earliest experiences volunteering were with B’nai B’rith Girls.
Now, in her retirement, following her career in the fiscal office at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, she combines her passion for gardening with her lifelong involvement in volunteering at the Hebrew Cultural Garden at 1060 East Blvd. in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood.
Q: Why did volunteering seem like a good fit for you?
A: I’m very committed to Israel and to my Judaism, and I love gardening. It was a natural fit.
