A woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a car in East Boston on Thursday afternoon, according to the Boston Police Department.

At around 2 p.m., officers responded to a call about a pedestrian struck by a car in the area around Meridian Street and Saratoga Street.

On arrival, officers found a woman suffering from severe, life-threatening injuries. Police say Boston EMS transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment.

The car’s operator remained at the scene, and police have made no arrests in connection with the incident.

Due to the severity of the injuries, Boston Police Homicide Detectives assigned to the Fatal Collision Team responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
