LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) -Every 5 years, every fire department in the United States must undergo an ISO evaluation where they’re rated 1 through 10, with the lower the better.
“We were highly anticipating dropping from a 4 to a 3,” Joshua Wehinger, the Fire Chief, said. “With the goal of the next couple of years working towards a 2.”
ISO stands for Insurance Services Office, and each fire station’s rating directly affects property insurance premiums for the respective residents in the area.
Lake City Fire Department, which was previously rated a class 4, just got its score back, and they are now a class 2.
