ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — Contract employees will be carrying out public surveys on the Gila National Forest and Cibola National Forest & Grasslands starting Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2026. These surveys will be conducted at recreation sites and forest service roads, according to the USDA Forest Service.
The "National Visitor Use Monitoring" survey is part of a Forest Service Program that aims to estimate how many people are recreating on the land, what activities they're partaking in, and how satisfied they are with their visit. Surveys of this nature are carried out every five years.
