ATLANTIC CITY — Daniel Sherrod, the lone member of the city’s housing authority board, was back in the resort Thursday to attend his second-ever board meeting in person in front of a packed crowd of residents.
Sherrod, an official with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, has been overseeing the agency’s operations since HUD took it over Aug. 11 after determining it was in substantial default.
Over the past month, Sherrod said he has met with residents while working on changing the attitude within the agency.
“The residents have been wonderful since our last board meeting, and I know some of them probably had a few choice words for me, but we’re coming together,” Sherrod said. “The staff has also done a great job understanding the urgency of the situation
