If you ask somebody how the Eric Church concert was at the Resch Center , don’t be surprised if they ask you which one.

Not because he played back-to-back nights, as he’s done twice before at a venue that has hosted him eight times , but because the one performance he gave Sept. 25 was so nuanced, so sneaky sophisticated, so good that the sum of its parts was as great as the whole. That’s saying something for an artist who increasingly transcends the boundaries of today's country to be one of music’s more electrifying live acts — period.

Church is in a league of his own, and over the course of nearly two and a half hours, he proved why, delivering what felt like multiple concerts within a concert, each one standing on its own and seemingly towering above the one before it:
