Traffic disruptions are underway along one of Vancouver’s major arteries.
The City of Vancouver began a $20-million upgrade of its sewer system on the south end of Granville Street Friday.
The project will force lane reductions on Granville Street at 64th Avenue from Sept. 26, until early morning Monday, Sept. 29.
As of Friday morning, crews are already at work. Granville Street has been reduced to one northbound lane and two southbound lanes in the area.
The city says traffic personnel will direct drivers and pedestrians, but you can expect delays.
“The existing combined sewer system will be replaced with a separated and larger-capacity system, with 1 pipe for rainwater runoff and another pipe for sewage,” a city notice explained, adding that the update will help accommodate populati
