Many Michiganders continue to wonder when true fall-like weather will take hold of our area and stay until winter. The data into the first week of October shows fall is still delayed. I also want to show you what “normal” is for this time of year, if there really is anything normal about Michigan’s weather.
The bigger picture shows the upper-atmosphere again developing a large dome of warm air aloft. This warm dome will start developing this weekend and be at mature status by Monday. When warm air is aloft, it typically results in sunshine and warmer-than-normal ground temperatures in Michigan.
Also just look at the upper-air flow out to October 10 and look for a big “U” shaped bend in the flow. You don’t see one of these big, long-lasting bends.
