A co-ordinated effort was successful in rescuing two hunters who had become stranded while out boating on the Crooked River, off Rope Lake in Labrador.
RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Sheshatshiu were contacted shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday by two hunters in distress and in need of immediate help.
The men had been out boating and were travelling up Crooked River when their vessel started taking on water in rough rapids.
The hunters climbed onto a rock in the middle of the rapids and used a satellite phone to contact first responders.
Fire and Emergency Services and the Happy Valley Goose Bay Ground Search and Rescue were called in to assist.
An RCMP aircraft and a Canadian Helicopter were also sent to the area to locate the stranded men, and they were airlifted to safety with
