Legal reporter Brad Heath has closely followed the indictment paperwork for former FBI Director James Comey and noticed no one from the Justice Department has signed off on the prosecution, except for the newly appointed U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The one-page indictment signed by Lindsey Halligan doesn't list any other attorneys on the case.

"Not a single career DOJ attorney has entered an appearance in the case against former FBI Director James Comey. Only the newly-appointed U.S. attorney is listed. That's extremely unusual," noted Heath.

This observation was also made by MSNBC on Friday afternoon, following the announcement of the indictment on Thursday evening.

Christopher O'Leary, MSNBC security and intelligence analyst, called that detail "a further step away from the established norms that we're seeing in the DOJ and FBI."

That breakdown of norms is what he sees as a pattern emerging from the second Donald Trump administration.

This detail follows the discovery that the indictment appears to misquote Comey's statement under oath. The DOJ claims Comey lied. Video of the exchange showed he made a different comment.
