A 16-year-old turned himself in to police Friday morning in connection with the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy outside a Queens Dunkin' store earlier this week, NYPD officials said.

The 16-year-old surrendered at the 105th Precinct stationhouse in Queens Village, officials said. Police have not yet announced formal charges, but NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Thursday the case was being investigated as a homicide.

The 13-year-old, Sanjay Samuel, was shot in his head on his way to school Monday morning on the corner of Linden and Springfield boulevards in Cambria Heights, police and his family said. He was declared brain-dead on life support Tuesday and succumbed to his injuries Wednesday.

Attorney information for the 16-year-old was not immediately available.
